Furthermore, it is with great pleasure to receive that the IGc-USP receives its foreign students, always seeking to guide them the best as it can with matters referring housing, documentation etc. You can read about <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/usp.br\/international-guide-incoming\/home-page\/cart%C3%A3o-e-bilhete-usp\" title=\"\">USP student and transportation cards<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/usp.br\/international-guide-incoming\/home-page\/servi%C3%A7os-prestados-pela-usp\" title=\"\">services provided by USP<\/a>\u00a0and the<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/usp.br\/international-guide-incoming\/home-page\/vida-acad%C3%AAmica\" title=\"\"> academic life<\/a>.<br><br>The International Office of IGc-USP strongly recommends that foreign students come to Brazil with a  Student Visa and that, when applying, they also request a CPF (Brazilian taxpayer identification number) from the embassy. You can read about visas, as well as the legal basis resolutions below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/mre\/pt-br\/embaixada-maputo\/vitem-i-pesquisa-ensino-e-extensao-academica\" title=\"\">VITEM I<\/a> \u2013 Researcher or Professor \u2013 For visiting professors, researchers, and postdoctoral fellows without an employment contract in Brazil. Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/portaldeimigracao.mj.gov.br\/images\/portarias\/PORTARIA%20INTERMINISTERIAL%20N%C2%BA%207%2C%20DE%2013%20DE%20MAR%C3%87O%20DE%202018.pdf\" title=\"\">PORTARIA INTERMINISTERIAL N\u00ba 7, DE 13 DE MAR\u00c7O DE 2018<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/mre\/pt-br\/consulado-buenos-aires\/vistos-1\/vitem\/vitem-xiii-mercosur\" title=\"\">VITEM XIII <\/a>\u2013 Mercosur \u2013 The Mercosur Visa is available to citizens of Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">It is important to note that the University of S\u00e3o Paulo does not work with the Mercosur Visa, and appointments related to the foreigner&#8217;s RNE at the Federal Police will need to be made independently, without assistance from Aucani or USP.<\/mark> Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planalto.gov.br\/ccivil_03\/_ato2007-2010\/2009\/decreto\/d6975.htm\" title=\"\">DECRETO N\u00b0. 6,975, DE 7 DE OUTUBRO DE 2009.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon arrival in the country, the foreigner must immediately begin gathering the necessary documents to obtain their RNM \u2013 the foreigner identification document in Brazil.
